On 12 November 2013 the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism Ben Emmerson will deliver a lecture on drone attacks.

The United Nations human rights expert will discuss the potential illegal use of armed drones. In his recent report to the UN General Assembly on the use of armed drones in counter-terrorism operations and its civilian impact, the UN expert called upon States to be transparent in their use of drones as weapons, to investigate allegations of violations of the right to life through drone killings, and to respect all applicable international law standards. This event co-hosted by HRFG and the Oxford Human Rights Hub.

The lecture will be held on Tuesday, 12 November 2013 – 5.30pm, The Cube, Oxford Law Faculty St Cross Bldg, St Cross Rd, Oxford OX1 3UL.
