Jonathan Sallet has left O'Melveny & Myers to lead a Federal Communications Commission task force and eventually serve as the FCC's top lawyer, the agency announced this week. He will serve as the interim director of the Technology Transitions Policy Task Force and is in line to be FCC acting general counsel, after Sean Lev steps down in the coming weeks. The announcement came as FCC chairman Tom Wheeler officially took office Monday. Sallet was a Washington, D.C.-based partner in O'Melveny's antitrust and competition and integrated legal strategies practices. He also was a partner at Jenner & Block and Miller, Cassidy, Larroca & Lewin, in addition to serving as chief policy counsel for MCI Telecommunications Corp. and later MCI WorldCom Inc.
