The Morning Wrap

Settling: The New York Times is reporting that JPMorgan has agreed to pay more than $900 million in governmental fines and admit wrongdoing related to a multibillion trading blunder last year. Jurors: The Ninth Circuit sounded ready Wednesday to break new ground in the area of gay rights and rule that prospective jurors cannot be excluded from service based on their sexual orientation. The Recorder has the story. Salaries: Flash back six years: "New York to $190,000" was the mantra for law students hopeful that the go-go times for large law firms would translate into even higher starting salaries for new associates. The National Law Journal's Karen Sloan reports it didn't quite turn out that way. Sentencing: The Washington Post profiles the Family Research Council security guard who stopped a shooter last year. The defendant, Floyd Lee Corkins II, is scheduled to be sentenced this morning.
