| Sidley Austin has added a former U.S. Securities and Exchange official to the firm's Washington office. Thomas Kim, formerly chief counsel an associate director of the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance, joins the firm as a partner. Kim held the SEC post since 2007. At Sidley, Kim will focus on securities and derivatives enforcement, regulatory securities and corporate governance and executive compensation practices. During his time at the SEC, Kim oversaw about a dozen senior lawyers and advised on securities law. Before his stint in government service, he was corporate and securities counsel to General Electric Co. "Tom has played a leadership role in many important SEC initiatives and is respected throughout the legal community," Carter Phillips, chairman of Sidley's executive committee, said in a statement. | |||
